Why It’s Conflation
The House voted 237 to 169 to cut federal student aid to colleges that boycott Israel. The bill's author called the boycott movement "antisemitic and hate-fueled." A boycott is pressure on a government's policies. Punishing schools for joining one isn't the same as protecting Jews.
What Actually Happened
The bill cuts off federal student aid to any college that engages in a "non-expressive commercial boycott of Israel."
