"We know there are more students at Columbia and other Universities across the Country who have engaged in pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American activity. We will find, apprehend, and deport these terrorist sympathizers from our country — never to return again."
Why It’s Conflation
The man arrested wasn’t charged with a crime. What he did was lead protests against a war. The president called that anti-Semitic activity and promised to deport more students for it.
What Actually Happened
Immigration agents arrested Mahmoud Khalil, a leader of Columbia’s Gaza protests. PBS: he "has not been charged with any crimes over his activities during campus unrest."
