Why It’s Conflation
This order on fighting antisemitism tells colleges to monitor and report foreign students and staff, which can lead to deportation. The White House said it would use it against foreign students it considers Hamas sympathizers. Harassing Jewish students was already illegal. Protesting a war isn’t the same as supporting Hamas or hating Jews.
What Actually Happened
Campus protests against the Gaza war in 2024 (the order's stated predicate), which the order treats as a class.
