"Antisemitic statements are incompatible with a democratic society and it is unacceptable coming from a deputy prime minister."

The slogan means different things to different people. Díaz used it at the end of a speech about recognizing a Palestinian state. The embassy called it a call for Israel’s destruction and antisemitic, with no room for any other meaning.

What Actually Happened

Díaz ended a speech on the Gaza war and Spain’s recognition of Palestine with the slogan "from the river to the sea."
