In English: "This statement by lecturers at Berlin universities leaves one speechless. Instead of clearly opposing hatred of Israel and Jews, university occupiers are made into victims and violence is played down." (Our translation.)
Why It’s Conflation
The lecturers defended a right: peaceful protest. They said so whether or not they agreed with the protest. A federal minister answered that they had failed to oppose hatred of Jews.
What Actually Happened
The lecturers: "Regardless of whether we agree with the specific demands of the protest camp, we stand before our students and defend their right to peaceful protest, which also includes the occupation of university premises."
