"And you understand that the use of the term "intifada" in the context of the Israeli-Arab conflict is indeed a call for violent armed resistance against the State of Israel, including violence against civilians and the genocide of Jews. Are you aware of that?"
Why It’s Conflation
Intifada is the Arabic word for uprising. Some people who chant it mean violence. Many mean protest. Stefanik said it always means the genocide of Jews, then asked whether calling for genocide broke campus rules. Under her definition, every protest that used the word became a call for genocide.
What Actually Happened
Campus protesters chanted slogans using the word "intifada."
