Israel said the report's conclusions are "false, biased and antisemitic." The Foreign Ministry said the report "denies the state of Israel's right to exist as the nation state of the Jewish people" and: "Its extremist language and distortion of historical context were designed to demonize Israel and pour fuel onto the fire of antisemitism."

Why It’s Conflation

Israel called the report antisemitic the day before it came out. Apartheid is a crime defined in international law, and Amnesty applied it to a government's policies. Israel could have disputed the evidence. It reached for the word.

What Actually Happened

Amnesty International: "Israeli authorities must be held accountable for committing the crime of apartheid against Palestinians."
